Fan Friday Feature: Tommy’s 1975 Corvette Stingray Coupe
For this week’s Fan Friday, we’re thrilled to showcase Tommy DeMuth’s stunning 1975 Corvette Stingray Coupe, hailing from Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Tommy has been the proud owner of this classic beauty since October 2006, making him the third steward of this automotive masterpiece. Over the years, he’s taken this Stingray to the next level, blending classic style with modern performance.
The 1975 Corvette Stingray, part of the beloved C3 generation, is a quintessential American sports car. Known for its sleek, shark-inspired design, the 1975 model features bold curves, a low-slung stance, and a long hood that exudes power and sophistication. This was the first Corvette to come standard without true chrome bumpers, as GM transitioned to urethane bumpers for improved safety and a streamlined look. Under the hood, the original engine lineup included a small-block 350 and the optional big-block 454, offering drivers an exhilarating experience behind the wheel.
Tommy’s Stingray has undergone an exciting transformation. In April 2023, he swapped out the original 350 cubic-inch engine and 4-speed manual transmission for a 383 c.i. crate engine from GM Performance Parts. To complement the new powerhouse, he installed a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, giving this Corvette the ability to truly soar. “It now runs as good as it looks,” Tommy shared, and judging by the photos, it looks incredible.
The 383 c.i. crate engine is a popular choice for enthusiasts looking to boost power while maintaining reliability. Known for its torque-heavy performance, this engine provides a thrilling driving experience, whether cruising down highways or tearing up backroads. Paired with the Tremec 5-speed, Tommy’s upgrades ensure smoother shifts, better fuel efficiency, and a modern touch to this timeless classic.
Owning a 1975 Corvette is about more than just performance—it’s about the connection to a rich history of automotive excellence. As part of the third generation, the C3 Corvette encapsulates the innovation and style of its time, making it a treasured piece of American muscle car culture. Tommy’s dedication to maintaining and enhancing his Stingray is a testament to the enduring passion shared by Corvette enthusiasts.
We’re grateful to Tommy for sharing his Corvette story and for keeping the spirit of classic cars alive. This Stingray isn’t just a car—it’s a legacy, blending classic Corvette DNA with modern upgrades that ensure it’s ready for the road ahead.
