Fan Friday Spotlight: Joe Ruiz's 1954 Chevy 210 Handyman | Classic Auto Store Online
Welcome back to another edition of Fan Friday! This week, we're thrilled to showcase a remarkable ride that embodies both history and modernity: Joe Ruiz's 1954 Chevy 210 Handyman. Joe, the third proud owner of this classic beauty, has stored it indoors for over 30 years and has meticulously transformed it into a stunning restomod.
A Labor of Love: Frame-Off Restoration
Joe's dedication to his Chevy 210 is evident in every inch of this car. The frame-off restoration process has breathed new life into the vehicle, merging vintage charm with contemporary performance. Under the hood lies a powerful 350 small block engine with 202 valve heads, flat top pistons, and HEI ignition. This setup ensures that the Chevy not only looks great but also packs a punch on the road.
Modern Upgrades for Enhanced Performance
The upgrades don’t stop there. Joe has installed a Mustang 2 front end, providing the Chevy with superior handling and comfort. With power steering and disc brakes all around, driving this classic is a breeze. The 700R4 automatic transmission ensures smooth shifts, making it a pleasure to cruise through the streets of sunny California.
The rear GM 10-bolt limited slip differential, now re-geared, adds to the car's robust performance. Aluminum heads and an aluminum intake further enhance the engine's efficiency and power. The frame has been notched, and airbags have been added, giving the car an adjustable ride height for that perfect stance. The two-link rear suspension keeps the ride smooth and controlled, even on the roughest roads.
The Talk of the Town: Skull Headlights
One of the most striking features of Joe’s Chevy 210 is undoubtedly the skull headlights. These unique headlights never fail to grab attention and spark conversations wherever Joe goes. They add a touch of whimsy and personality to an already standout vehicle.
A Daily Driver
Despite being a work in progress, Joe drives his Chevy 210 every day. It’s a testament to the reliability and enjoyment that this restomod brings to its owner. Whether he's cruising along the coast or navigating the city streets, Joe's Chevy 210 is a rolling piece of art that turns heads and draws admiration.
Under Construction and Ever-Evolving
Joe’s Chevy 210 is still under construction, with new updates and improvements always on the horizon. This evolving project keeps Joe's passion alive, constantly pushing the boundaries of what this classic car can become.
