Fan Friday: Kristin Stocker’s Tribute to Family

Welcome back to Classic Auto's Fan Friday, where we highlight the incredible stories behind the cars we love. This week, we're honored to feature Kristin Stocker and her beautiful 1997 Camaro 30th Anniversary Z28, a car that represents not only Camaro history but also a deeply personal journey.

Kristin’s Camaro is a special edition model that celebrates three decades of the iconic Camaro nameplate. With an Arctic White exterior accented by striking Hugger Orange stripes, it’s a head-turner that pays homage to the classic styling that made the Camaro a legend. The interior is just as impressive, featuring Arctic White leather seats with timeless Houndstooth inserts, adding a retro flair to its modern comfort.

Beneath the hood lies a 5.7L V8 engine that churns out an impressive 285 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque, ensuring this Z28 delivers the power and performance muscle car fans crave.

But what makes this car truly special is the story behind it. Kristin’s passion for Camaros was passed down from her dad, a fellow Camaro enthusiast who once owned a ’72 Camaro before selling it. Sadly, Kristin lost her father unexpectedly in 2018. Although her search for a Camaro began before his passing, life had other plans, delaying her dream. But as she says, losing her dad taught her a valuable lesson: "Life is too short, buy the car."

Determined to find her perfect Camaro, Kristin began sending her husband countless listings to check out. While she didn’t have a specific year in mind, she knew she’d find "the one" when it gave her that indescribable feeling. Then, she found it—a 1997 30th Anniversary Z28.

When the car first arrived, it was far from perfect, covered in mildew and needing a lot of TLC. But with dedication, love, and many power washes, Kristin transformed it back into a show-stopping beauty. The car even made its way to the Camaro Nationals, where it competed and turned heads once again.

For Kristin, this Camaro is more than just a car—it’s a tribute to her father. “This car is a little bit of honoring my dad. Even though he isn’t here to see it and enjoy it with me, I just look at the passenger seat and say, ‘I know you’re there.’”
