shift boot step 1

Step 1. Pop that little piece off around the shifter.

shift boot step 2

Step 2. Here is what the shifter area looks like without that piece. If you have a automatic, you will have to cut the OD wire to get the shifter off, which is probably best anyway, since it leaves OD on all the time.

shift boot step 3

Step 3. Pull the shift boot as high on the shifter as you want it and zip-tie it in place. How high you tie it is up to you; just below the overdrive button works well. Have fun with it. With a manual transmission, it will be obvious how to mount it because there is a piece on top of your stock boot that you need to take off and put on the new one.

shift boot step 4

Step 4. To get the boot to stay down, some people use hot glue, or just screw it down. You might also just tuck it in around the base area. Use whichever method you like. When done, fiddle with the leather to get it the way you like and re-assemble. If you have a manual, you'll be able to mount the bottom of the boot just the same way your OEM one was mounted.

shift boot step 5

Step 5. Here is what it looks like installed before the trim piece is latched back into place.

shift boot step 6

Step 6. Remove the screws that support the center console and armrest area. Remove the two screws to the side, they are a few inches down from the armrest.

shift boot step 7

Step 7. To remove the rear part of the center console (not needed unless installing the e-brake boot!), you will also need to remove the two screws next to the shifter. Those two circles on the picture to the right show the location of those screws. When taken off, pull the rear part of the center console off completely.

shift boot step 8

Step 8. You then have to trim the rubber to your liking. You can remove it completely. An X-Acto knife or a razor blade works.

shift boot step 9

Step 9. Secure the bottom of the boot around the metal piece under the rubber trim you just cut, you can use hot glue, tape, zip ties, screws - whatever works best for you. Pull the e-brake cover down the e-brake and then flap it over so it overlaps wherever you want it. its a tight fit but you can use a zip tie or a rubber band or tape if you want to secure the top of the e-brake boot. Reinstall the center console and the trim piece around the shifter.

Leather care: apply a leather conditioner with UV protection every 4-6 weeks to keep it from drying out and cracking.
