What This Is
A custom-sewn leather shift boot for your 1989-01 Geo Metro. It's the leather only: it installs on your factory frame or trim ring. It is not a complete shift boot assembly.

- Not included: shift knob, trim, frames or hardware. You reuse your factory parts.

Installation

You'll remove the shift knob and trim, move the new boot onto your factory frame, and reinstall.

Step 1. Place vehicle in Neutral and make sure parking brake is engaged. Turn shift knob to unscrew (it is a long threaded section, so it will take a bit, be patient, it will come off).
Step 2. Gently pull out and up on the edge of the stock shift boot. It will release from its holder.
Step 3. Work around the boot, gently pulling outward until the whole boot has been released from its holder.
Step 4. Lift the boot off.
Step 5. Slide new boot in place over the shifter.
Step 6. To make the install easier, fold up the bottom edge of the boot.
Step 7. Start either at the front or back, and gently unfold the boot over the holder.
Step 8. Make sure that you tuck the edge inside the holder to make sure it is secured. A flat head screwdriver used with care (so you do not damage the boot) may be useful to help you tuck the edges in. Reinstall the shift knob and you are done.
Leather care: apply a leather conditioner with UV protection every 4-6 weeks to keep it from drying out and cracking.
