armrest cover step 1

Step 1. The kit includes thread and one needle; a second needle lets you do a baseball stitch if you want one. Depending on the stitch pattern you choose (100s of videos on YouTube with different styles) you will or will not need the second needle. Thin double-sided tape helps hold the cover in place.

Step 2. The cover was a perfect fit, it slid right over the shift button and lined up amazingly. The double sided tape was used to hold the flaps in place and keep it aligned even with the top and bottom of the plastic shift assembly.

Step 3. Chose what pattern you would like to use. A baseball stitch is an option if you want to match another part of your interior. To do this, remove the thread that comes sewn into the cover. The holes left from the stitching where perfect to used with the new pattern. Again, removal of the stock threads is not necessary for many lacing styles. Make sure you keep the cover aligned as you go and keep the laces tight. Pull the thread tight every two or three holes.

Step 4. Starting from the top, pull the slack down to the desired tension using a needle. The thread provided by the new was great and didn't break or fray at all. Re-tighten as needed to get the look you want. Once the thread has been laced and you are satisfied, it's time to tie it off. Finish with a square knot and trim off the excess thread.

Leather care: apply a leather conditioner with UV protection every 4-6 weeks to keep it from drying out and cracking.
