What This Is
A custom-sewn leather shift boot for your 1978-83 Porsche 911. It's the leather only: it installs on your factory frame or trim ring. It is not a complete shift boot assembly.

Installation

You'll remove the shift knob and trim, move the new boot onto your factory frame, and reinstall.

Step 1. Removing the shift knobs on SC's can be quite difficult. Take a 15 mm or adjustable wrench and place it under the shift knob. Some like to place a cloth or other soft material to prevent damage to the shift knob or lever.
Step 2. Pull off the rubber boot. Install the leather boot over the rubber boot (the rubber will provide the base and structure for the leather boot. You can trim off the top part of the rubber boot, but make sure to keep the bottom (around half of it at least). Reinstall.
Step 3. Same principle applies to e-brake boot, remove the rubber one.
Step 4. Install the leather boot instead of the rubber boot.
Leather care: apply a leather conditioner with UV protection every 4-6 weeks to keep it from drying out and cracking.
